Bethany Primary School

Bethany Primary School

At the end of 2019, we partnered with the local primary school in Busoke Village, Mubanda Parish.  Develop Sustainability had been assisting with the school and providing school fees support to local families and children, for years. When we were informed about the primary school closure, we stepped into a more active role on the school board and into the school management team.  This has given us unique and needed ways to contribute to our corner of the Ugandan Education System.  We are busy with lots of projects in Uganda, but we decided that education for these children was too important to lose.  We are committed to providing quality education to students, with diverse opportunities that enhance the quality of the community.  Education is our community’s future.  Without change, how can we learn to correct the mistakes in our past and move forward as responsible citizens?

We have been able to utilize the previous school property & buildings, to continue to host classes for over 300 students. But in 2022, we will need to find a location and start constructing a new school compound. We are so excited to create a space where children thrive and can find excitement and purpose in their education.

Develop Sustainability is working to integrate alternative curriculums and to create a community library. We partner with schools and individual teachers, in the USA-- to provide teaching tools and classroom support systems. We want to continue to introduce & demonstrate new ways for our teachers to inspire & teach Ugandan youth. We continue to invite our wider community of supporters, to partner in meeting the financial and academic needs of the school and to improve opportunities for the children in these communities.
